Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Lord Fairfax of Cameron (1612-1671) on engraving from the 1800s. General and parliamentary commander-in-chief during the English Civil War. His dark hair and eyes and a swarthy complexion earned him the nickname Black Tom. Engraved by A.HPayne from a painting by L.Hicks and publsihed by the London Printing and Publishng Company.
