A male, Northern guiña (Leopardus guigna tigrillo) at Fauna Andina. This species is listed as vulnerable on the IUCN red list. Named Pikumche, this animal was hand-raised by the center after arriving as a ten-day-old orphan. Over the past 15 years, Fauna Andina staff has been studying this species and was the first to record their vocalizations. Those low, fast-repeating sounds you hear are made when he's excited, while the meow simply announces his presence. ; Araucania, Chile
